Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially endorsed his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, as the APC candidate for the 2027 governorship election. The announcement, made at Lagos House, Marina, was witnessed by party leaders, state executives, and local government chairmen.
Sanwo-Olu described Hamzat as “well-prepared and experienced,” highlighting his years of service and political acumen. The endorsement cements Hamzat’s position as the frontrunner within the APC, with strong backing from influential figures including Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and Senator Ganiyu Solomon.
Hamzat, who has served as deputy governor since 2019, pledged to continue strengthening Lagos and delivering better outcomes for residents. He emphasized the importance of sustaining APC’s governance structure and Nigeria’s economic stability.
With this endorsement, the APC’s Lagos governorship race takes clearer shape, setting the stage for what promises to be a defining contest in 2027.
