Nvidia is set to join OpenAI’s latest funding round, with an agreement that could be finalized as early as this weekend, according to reports. While the company declined to comment officially, its chief executive Jensen Huang has made clear that the investment will be “huge.”

Huang dismissed speculation that Nvidia was backing away from its plan, calling such reports “complete nonsense.” He emphasized that Nvidia views OpenAI as “one of the most consequential companies of our time” and confirmed that the firm will invest heavily in the round being closed by OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman.

The funding round is expected to value OpenAI at around $850 billion, underscoring the scale of investor confidence in generative AI. Nvidia, already the leading supplier of processors powering large language models like ChatGPT, stands to benefit further as developers race to build GPU‑driven data centers for the next wave of AI services.

Despite market concerns over the energy demands and costs of AI infrastructure, the momentum behind OpenAI’s expansion and Nvidia’s role in it shows no signs of slowing.
