FAKE NEWS ALERT: JAMB Still the Only Authorized Body for Tertiary Admissions — Federal Ministry of Education

The Federal Ministry of Education has debunked reports circulating online claiming that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is no longer required for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

In an official statement issued on 16th October 2025, the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa (CON), described the reports as false, misleading, and baseless.

For the record, JAMB remains the legally recognized and authorized body responsible for conducting entrance examinations and coordinating admissions into all tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The Ministry emphasized that there has been no change in the current admission structure and urged students, parents, and school administrators to disregard the fake publication and rely only on official communication channels of the Ministry and JAMB for accurate updates.

Dr. Alausa reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with JAMB and other education agencies to uphold transparency, fairness, and credibility in the admission process.

The Ministry also cautioned media outlets and bloggers to verify all education-related information before publication to avoid spreading misinformation.

✅ Key Point:
There is no policy change — JAMB remains the sole and central body for admissions into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria.
