Murdered 71 Women

Gary Ridgway, later infamous as the Green River Killer, led a life that looked normal on the outside—but underneath, it was pure darkness. Between the 1980s and 1990s, he murdered up to 71 women in the Seattle area, mostly targeting those society ignored. Cold, calculated, and terrifyingly methodical, his crimes left a city in fear.

And yet at home? Ridgway seemed ordinary. In 1988, he married Judith Mawson. She thought she’d found love and stability. He brought her flowers, kept the house in order, and acted like the husband any woman would trust. She had no idea that, all the while, her seemingly perfect spouse was hiding a horrific secret life.

Ridgway later admitted he even thought about killing Judith—but hesitated, fearing it would draw suspicion. Judith wonders now if their relationship somehow kept him from acting on some urges. Her story is haunting: a reminder that monsters can sit next to you at the dinner table, and that appearances can be deadly deceiving.
